The OTS Line Monitor is a battery powered line monitor developed to communicate disturbance (10,000 samples per second) and outage events on distribution feeders. The line monitor has been designed using Internet of Things (IoT) standards and technologies to provide material benefits over traditional approaches. From a capital expenditure point of view – the line monitor has been designed to be an order of magnitude less expensive than traditional communicating fault indicators. The Line Monitor does not require the installation of a local concentrator and is designed to be installed and uninstalled by a single resource using a universal hot stick. It can operate for 10+ years even on lightly loaded feeders.
